Reading data from different devices and systems. Visualizing real-time data directly in the video stream. Generating metadata and data-based custom events. Integrating Axis cameras with cloud and media platforms. All of this is made possible by the suite of CamStreamer ACAP apps, and it is now available on hand in a single case. The CamStreamer Demo Case allows you to demonstrate all the benefits that our ACAP applications offer when it comes to integrating external data into Axis camera systems.
Integrating scale data with Axis cameras enables monitoring goods volume, recording merchandise-related metadata, and searching or filtering this data within the video management system (VMS). This allows freight forwarders to record weight information (e.g., check truck loads on arrival and departure) and set specific weight limits, optimizing operations and maximizing truck utilization through customizable alerts. This solution also helps reduce the risk of goods theft.
How does it work? A camera with the CamScripter App and the CamOverlay App onboard runs a script that reads data from the scale, generates overlay visuals in the video feed, creates events based on defined rules, and compiles metadata for the VMS.
The combination of Axis cameras and CamStreamer ACAP applications also proves valuable in facilities management. Real-time data from thermometers or humidity sensors can be displayed live in the video stream and recorded as metadata in the VMS. Custom rules can also be set to generate events, for example, when the temperature or humidity exceeds a certain limit. This integration helps oversee optimal conditions, protect assets, and ensure compliance with regulations.
How does it work? The USB thermometer is connected to the AXIS D3110 Connectivity Hub. Thanks to the CamScripter App and the CamOverlay App onboard, the camera is able to read data from the thermometer, generate live graphical overlays in the video feed, create events based on defined rules (e.g., temperature too high/low), and produce metadata for the VMS.
In logistics and warehouse management, Axis cameras with CamStreamer ACAP applications can display barcodes or QR codes and visually track items moving through the warehouse. Additionally, the system generates metadata to create a digital footprint, enhance merchandise traceability, and ensure accountability in case of issues.
How does it work? As the camera monitors the scan area, the AXIS D3110 Connectivity Hub with the CamScripter App onboard runs a script to fetch data from the barcode reader. A green light confirms a successful scan, and the barcode is immediately displayed in the video stream. While the metadata is sent to the VMS, a snapshot of the barcode reading can also be uploaded to cloud storage, such as Google Drive.
Unlocking the potential of edge computing:Axis cameras offer capabilities that go beyond security. The CamStreamer Demo Case showcases how edge computing can integrate and display various types of data (API, XML, JSON...) while creating smart events. This feature reduces latency and dependency on centralized servers. |
Simple and cost-effective solutions:Instead of purchasing expensive hardware and software, customers can fully leverage the processing power of Axis cameras through CamStreamer ACAP applications. |
Making the most of available data:CamStreamer ACAP applications generate valuable metadata that can be sent to the VMS (or any other system), retrieved, and utilized for data-driven insights and decision-making. |
Customizable solutions:JavaScript micro-apps for the CamScripter App can be tailored to meet specific needs or objectives. |
The CamStreamer Demo Case was created to showcase the capabilities of Axis cameras combined with CamStreamer ACAP applications, offering benefits to various segments and customers. Best of all, getting started is simple—just plug the CamStreamer Demo Case into a power outlet. To take it a step further, connect to the internet and demonstrate how easily snapshots can be uploaded to the cloud.
