🚀 CamStreamer App v5 & v6: What’s New

Modernized UI & User Experience

  • New Unified UI: The application has been completely rewritten using React—the modern industry standard we already use for our other apps. Enjoy a sleek, modernized, and unified user experience.
  • Fully Responsive Design: The interface now adapts perfectly to mobile devices. You’ll never find yourself in a situation where you can't control or manage your stream on the go without a computer.
  • Dark Mode Support: By popular demand, you can now switch the application to Dark Mode for more comfortable viewing in low-light environments.

Core Architecture & Reliability

  • 100% Offline Capability: Previously, the user interface was fetched directly from our servers, meaning it required an internet connection to load properly. The UI is now completely self-contained locally, allowing the application to run fully within your closed network environment.
  • Settings Import & Export (Backup & Restore): You can now back up all your streams, configurations, and uploaded audio files, then easily transfer them to another camera. If you need to factory reset your camera, restoring this backup will return everything to its previous state. Your ongoing streams will even continue with the exact same YouTube ID (Note: The backup must be uploaded shortly after the reset).

Stream Management & Control

  • New Control Room Dashboard: We’ve added a clean, intuitive dashboard showing all your currently configured streams, allowing you to start and stop them quickly and effortlessly.
  • Flexible Video Source Switching: You can now change the video source of an existing stream while it is inactive. This means you can easily switch between different camera sensors, view areas, CamSwitcher, or an external RTSP stream without creating a new setup from scratch.
  • On-the-Fly Stream Extension: If an event runs longer than expected, you can now modify the end time of a scheduled, currently live broadcast directly within the app.

Audio & Protocol Enhancements

  • Centralized Audio Manager: We have moved audio management into a dedicated tool. Instead of adding audio files and external RTSP audio streams to each broadcast individually, you can now manage all your audio assets in one central hub and reuse them for any existing or future streams.
  • Smart Codec & Quality Detection for YouTube: YouTube supports RTMP streaming with multiple codecs (H.264, H.265, AV1). CamStreamer now automatically detects your camera’s hardware capabilities and selects the most efficient settings right when you set up the stream.
  • MPEG-TS Preview Links: When using the MPEG-TS streaming protocol, the app now generates a preview link. You can easily paste this into your receiving device or use it to test the stream via VLC player.

Diagnostics & Integrations

  • Top-Bar Port Connectivity Check: Blocked network ports (specifically 1935 or 443) are a frequent cause of support tickets, as they block trial licenses and YouTube streaming. To make troubleshooting instant, we added a live port availability check directly into the top persistent navigation bar.
  • Live Application Logs: Access the application's behavior log directly on the right side of the screen. This makes it much easier to track down streaming issues and identify exactly why a receiving platform might be rejecting your stream.
  • GameChanger Integration: Building on our successful partnership with GameChanger, we have added native streaming support for their platform directly into our list of streaming services.

New API

  • The new CamStreamer features an updated API for integrations. If you use any custom integrations, please review the new API documentation first and update them accordingly.

IMPORTANT

  • Please note that the user interface for CamStreamer App versions 3.X and 4.X will stop working at the end of the year. Because these older versions load their UI from the internet, this system will be discontinued after December 31. If you do not update by then, your background video streaming will continue to run uninterrupted. However, the user interface will no longer be functional and will only display a message prompting an update, meaning you will lose the ability to control or configure the app. To ensure continuous management of your streams, we recommend upgrading to the new version.
