Located in the county of La Manche, in the west Cotentin, the seaside resort of Pirou is renowned for its coastline. It is also famous for its shellfish. There is the oldest Norman castle, the Castle of Pirou. With 5 km of coastline on the Channel, Pirou is a popular family destination. The coast has remained untamed with towering dunes. There are three beaches to be found in Pirou including that of the town centre which is supervised in the summer season and has a sea water swimming pool which is uncovered at low tide.
