What's New in the CamStreamer App Update
01 Jul 2026 - 10:07
The CamStreamer App update brings the biggest change in the app's recent history: a completely rebuilt user interface. The application has been rewritten in React, the same framework we already use for our other apps, and now runs as a single, unified interface. CamStreamer App is a YouTube Live Verified Encoder, and this update builds on that foundation with new capabilities across the interface, reliability, stream control, audio, diagnostics, and the integration API.

A redesigned, unified interface
- New unified UI: The application has been rewritten in React, the same framework we already use for our other apps, giving you one consistent interface across the board.
- Fully responsive design: The interface now adapts to mobile devices, so that you can control and manage your stream on the go without a computer.
- Dark mode: By popular demand, you can switch the application to Dark Mode for more comfortable viewing in low-light environments.
Architecture and reliability
- 100% offline capability: Previously, the user interface was fetched directly from our servers, so it required an internet connection to load. The UI is now fully self-contained on the camera, allowing the application to run entirely within your closed network environment.
- Settings import and export (save and restore): You can back up all your streams, configurations, and uploaded audio files, then transfer them to another camera. If you need to factory reset your camera, restoring the backup returns everything to its previous state, and your ongoing streams continue with the same YouTube ID. (The backup must be uploaded shortly after the reset.)
More control over your streams
- New Control Room dashboard: A clear dashboard shows all your currently configured streams, so you can start and stop them quickly.
- Flexible video source switching: You can now change the video source of an existing stream while it is inactive, switching between different camera sensors, view areas, CamSwitcher App, or an external RTSP stream without building a new setup from scratch.
- On-the-fly stream extension: If an event runs longer than expected, you can modify the end time of a scheduled, currently live broadcast directly within the app.
Audio and protocol improvements
- Centralized Audio Manager: Audio management now lives in a dedicated tool. Instead of adding audio files and external RTSP audio streams to each broadcast individually, you manage all your audio assets in a single central hub and reuse them across existing and future streams.
- Smart codec and quality detection for YouTube: YouTube supports RTMP streaming with multiple codecs (H.264, H.265, AV1). CamStreamer App now automatically detects your camera's hardware capabilities and selects the most efficient settings when you set up the stream.
- MPEG-TS preview links: When using the MPEG-TS streaming protocol, the app now generates a preview link. You can paste it into your receiving device or use it to test the stream in VLC.
Diagnostics and integrations
- Top-bar port connectivity check: Blocked network ports (specifically 1935 or 443) are a frequent cause of support tickets, because they block trial licenses and YouTube streaming. A live port availability check now sits directly in the top persistent navigation bar.
- Live application logs: The application's behavior log is available on the right side of the screen, making it easier to track down streaming issues and identify exactly why a receiving platform might be rejecting your stream.
- GAMECHANGER integration: Building on our partnership with GameChanger, we have added native streaming support for their platform directly into the list of streaming services.
Updated API
The update includes an updated API for integrations. If you use any custom integrations, please review the new API documentation at https://camstreamer.survilla.support/camstreamer-api/ first and update them accordingly.
Getting the update
The update ships in two new versions: v6 for newer cameras and v5 for older models. Both are current releases, so whichever version your camera runs, you get the same redesigned app.
Moving to the new version keeps you in full control of your streams and brings the full set of features above. It’s smooth and safe for any Axis camera, and it is ready in minutes.

IMPORTANT
Please note that the user interface for CamStreamer App versions 3.X and 4.X will stop working at the end of the year. Because these older versions load their UI from the internet, this system will be discontinued after December 31, 2026. If you do not update by then, your background video streaming will continue to run uninterrupted. However, the user interface will no longer be functional and will only display a message prompting an update, meaning you will lose the ability to control or configure the app. To ensure continuous management of your streams, we recommend upgrading to the new version.
