A multi-camera livestreaming solution powered by CamStreamer Apps helped the Czech Powerchair Hockey Federation broadcast its league playoffs professionally while keeping production costs low and the production workflow simple for organizers.

About the project

The Czech Powerchair Hockey Federation (CPHF) continuously works to promote powerchair hockey and make the sport more accessible to players, fans, and partners across the country. When organizing the Czech Powerchair Hockey League playoffs, the federation wanted to provide viewers with a professional livestreaming experience while operating within a limited budget.

The goal was to create a cost-effective solution that would deliver high-quality match coverage, sponsor visibility, live score graphics, and reliable streaming without requiring expensive production equipment or a large technical crew. At the same time, the system needed to remain easy to manage throughout the tournament while providing an enjoyable viewing experience for fans.

Technical Solution

To provide comprehensive coverage of the court, three AXIS network cameras were deployed throughout the venue. The main camera was an AXIS P1448-LE with 4K resolution installed at the center of the court. Two view areas were configured as PTZ positions, allowing operators to switch between a center view and a wider overview of the playing area.

Two additional AXIS P1455-LE cameras with Full HD resolution were mounted on the basketball hoops located on both sides of the court. These cameras focused on the areas around the goals, ensuring that important game situations were captured from multiple angles.

The production workflow was managed directly through CamStreamer App, CamSwitcher App, and CamOverlay App running inside the cameras. CamStreamer App installed on the main camera streamed the event directly to YouTube, while CamSwitcher App combined all camera feeds into a single broadcast and enabled operators to switch between the four available views using numerical keyboard shortcuts.

To enrich the broadcast, CamOverlay App was installed on all three cameras. The application displayed sponsor logos and the live scoreboard as graphical overlays throughout the stream, helping increase sponsor visibility while keeping viewers informed about the progress of the match.

Audio was captured using an external wireless microphone connected directly to the main camera. Because all applications operated directly within the cameras, the solution eliminated the need for additional encoding hardware, production computers, or dedicated streaming equipment. This significantly reduced deployment costs while maintaining professional production quality.

The Result

The final solution enabled the Czech Powerchair Hockey Federation to livestream its playoff tournament professionally, reliably, and within budget. The multi-camera production provided viewers with comprehensive match coverage, while sponsor graphics and live score overlays enhanced the overall viewing experience.

According to Lukáš Kroupa, Chairman of the Czech Powerchair Hockey Federation, the entire solution performed reliably throughout the event and helped the federation successfully present the playoffs to online audiences.

Beyond livestreaming, the solution provided additional value through local recording. All camera feeds were stored on SD cards and later utilized for post-match analysis, including the review of referees' decisions. This demonstrated how a single camera-based ecosystem can support both live production and operational analysis without additional infrastructure.

By combining CamStreamer App, CamOverlay App, and CamSwitcher App directly within AXIS cameras, CPHF gained an efficient and affordable production workflow that helped increase the visibility of powerchair hockey while minimizing operational complexity and hardware costs.
