A livestreaming solution powered by CamStreamer App helped Designblok 2019 broadcast conferences, fashion shows, and lectures live from Prague while engaging both on-site visitors and online audiences through a simple camera-based workflow.
About the project
Designblok, the Prague International Design Festival, is the largest design and fashion festival in the Czech Republic. The 21st edition, held at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, focused on the theme of the future. Inspired by this vision, the organizers wanted to explore new ways of reaching audiences beyond the exhibition venue through live video.
The goal was not only to make conferences, lectures, fashion shows, and expert talks accessible to viewers online, but also to introduce the festival to people who had never visited Designblok before. By extending the event beyond the exhibition grounds, the organizers hoped to increase awareness and attract new visitors in future editions.

Technical Solution
The livestream from the festival's main stage was produced using an AXIS M5525-E PTZ Network Camera running CamStreamer App. The stage hosted two international conferences together with lectures, fashion shows, and panel discussions, while the camera's pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities allowed operators to cover both the main program and other areas of the exhibition during breaks.
To simplify production, the team prepared PTZ preset positions in advance, allowing operators to change camera angles instantly with a single click from a PC or smartphone. This made it possible to manage the livestream efficiently throughout the event while maintaining smooth camera transitions.
CamStreamer App simultaneously produced two independent outputs. One livestream was streamed directly to Facebook, while the second output was delivered in HDMI format through a video decoder to the production team's mixing console and displayed live on a large screen at the festival venue. The broadcast was also recorded locally, allowing the organizers to reuse the footage for future promotional and marketing activities.
To complement the live production, an AXIS Q3515-LV Network Camera captured a time-lapse sequence of the festival. Created using an early version of CamStreamer Cloud, the recording provided engaging content for social media, helping promote the event and attract additional visitors throughout the festival.
The Result
The livestream successfully extended Designblok beyond the exhibition grounds, allowing audiences to experience the event both on-site and online. At the same time, the recorded content and time-lapse videos provided valuable promotional material that continued to engage viewers throughout the festival and after it had ended.

Following the success of the project, the organizers decided to continue using livestreaming during future editions of the festival, recognizing it as an effective way to increase audience engagement, expand the event's reach, and create valuable promotional content beyond the exhibition itself.
