Prague EAGLES uses our Sports Solution and automated camera switching

About the project

We have been working with the Eagles Prague baseball & softball club for many years. Until recently, they used our Sport Events integration, which allowed for scoreboard overlays and streaming matches to YouTube. While the client could manually switch between individual cameras to capture more angles and make the stream more dynamic, this required a dedicated person to control the broadcast in real time. To optimize this, we decided to automate the switching and add further functionality.

Technical Solution

Our client uses our Sports Solution to stream matches using two Axis cameras. The solution runs via an app installed directly on the main camera. The control is fully autonomous, and the setup is easily managed remotely through CamStreamer Cloud.

Smart Switching:

The main camera captures the entire field and the pitcher. It runs an AI-trained script that detects when a pitch is occurring and automatically switches to a second camera for a close-up of the batter.

Calibration:

The automated switching was carefully calibrated to account for camera positioning, lighting conditions, and different types of players. The script is currently fine-tuned for pro players, youth categories, and amateurs.

Real-time Data:

The solution integrates with the Ballclubz app (licensed by WBSC) to display scores and player information. A person on-site uses a tablet or phone to update the scoring service, which serves as the data source. Our Sports Solution reads this data and inserts it as a graphic overlay into the live stream.

Management:

Individual matches can be scheduled in advance via the intuitive CamStreamer Cloud interface. Team logos, sponsor branding, and advertising jingles are also managed here to be played during breaks. The interface remains accessible during the match for live feeds or audio commentary.

Analysis and Highlights:

Each match is recorded, allowing key moments to be tagged either during or after the game. This enables quick navigation through the footage and the creation of highlight reels with just a few clicks. The club can also export recordings from all connected cameras, providing coaches with valuable material for hit analysis.
