About the project

The goal of this project was to demonstrate the capabilities of CamOverlay App using one of Prague's most recognizable views overlooking Hradčany. Instead of offering a standard sightseeing webcam, the livestream was designed to create an attractive presentation of Prague's landmarks by combining live video with dynamic graphics, useful visitor information, and promotional content.

The project also showcases a new approach to digital advertising that does not require expensive broadcasting equipment. By integrating multiple CamStreamer applications into a single livestream, the solution demonstrates how tourism organizations and destination managers can communicate with visitors in a visually engaging way while creating new sponsorship and advertising opportunities.

Technical Solution

The livestream is powered by an AXIS Q6075-E PTZ Network Camera, which automatically captures Prague from multiple viewpoints using a PTZ guard tour. The camera delivers Full HD video, performs reliably in challenging lighting conditions, and provides powerful optical zoom, making it ideal for showcasing historic landmarks and tourist attractions.

CamOverlay App enriches the livestream by inserting graphics directly into the video. Using the PTZ Overlay feature, different graphics are automatically displayed for individual camera positions as the guard tour moves between viewpoints. The application also supports animated GIFs and can display up to four independent graphic elements simultaneously. In this project, the livestream combines PTZ-specific graphics, a permanent logo, animated elements, and a live weather widget powered by AccuWeather.

To make the broadcast more dynamic, CamSwitcher App automatically alternates between the live camera feed and prerecorded promotional videos from Prague City Tourism using scheduled playlists. The application also provides continuous background music throughout the livestream.

The final output is streamed directly to YouTube Live using CamStreamer App, which runs entirely on the camera without requiring additional streaming hardware. The application also supports simultaneous streaming to multiple platforms when needed.

The Result

The project demonstrates how a single AXIS PTZ camera can become much more than a traditional sightseeing webcam. By combining live video with dynamic graphics, weather information, and scheduled promotional content, the livestream provides visitors with useful information while creating a richer and more engaging viewing experience.

At the same time, the solution introduces an affordable way for tourism organizations to promote destinations, attractions, and commercial partners without investing in complex broadcasting infrastructure. By combining automated overlays with scheduled promotional content, organizations can communicate with viewers more effectively while creating new opportunities for advertising revenue.
